SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

At the Korongata Marae AGM held on Saturday 24 August 2024 an amendment to the charter was proposed. It was agreed that the wording be reviewed by the Trustees and presented at a Special General Meeting to be ratified. For this purpose, an SGM is being held on Saturday 12 October 2024.

Proposed Change 1:

Replace Clause 4.8 of the Korongata Marae Charter - ‘The Beneficiaries at an AGM or SGM may determine from time to time by resolution to have the Marae financial accounts audited or reviewed by an independent auditor appointed by the Trustees.

 

Proposed Change 2:

Remove the word audited from clause 4.9

Background:

Korongata Marae now has an Independent Accountant - On All Accounts (Angela Williams).

The proposed changes remove the mandatory obligation to have an annual audit of the financial accounts which is very costly. It empowers the Korongata Marae beneficiaries and trustees to request to have the finances audited when needed.
